Trump Faces Huge Liabilities Post His Presidency

Here in the United States, we try to hold our public officials liable for acts of gross negligence and reckless disregard for human life, and former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirshner (pictured at left) speculated in an April 2 interview that Trump could be prosecuted for involuntary manslaughter once he exits the presidency.

It’s clear that Trump deliberately and selfishly delayed taking action re: the coronavirus that would have prevented countless American citizens from agonizing deaths, and that this meets the definition of involuntary manslaughter, i.e., the unintentional homicide from criminally negligent or reckless conduct.

But speculating as to what criminal and/or civil liability Trump faces is impossible, especially insofar as he has managed to evade all efforts on the part of the Department of Justice and the U.S. Congress to hold him accountable.  It seems far more likely that he’ll go down on charges of obstructing justice and/or any number of financial crimes.  People all over the world will be dancing in the streets.
