Trump Encouraging Lawlessness, Could Get Much Worse
A reader points out, “Trump’s “LIBERATE” tweets are his vilest decrees yet. A full on call for insurrection in a time of crisis. If he loses in November can we expect more of the same?” Another responds, “Count on it. There will be riots at Trump’s call. These people know nothing else.”
I have to admit, his stimulating a rebellion against government at this stage could be a nasty little harbinger of what’s to come, especially insofar as here, he’s doing this for no reason other than to punish a few Democratic governors. If he loses the election, it’s not hard to imagine his ordering his 60 million supporters to “take our country back from the liberals who rigged the vote, or the deep state,” or some such.
Fortunately for all of us, four years of Trump has not established him as emperor, not that he hasn’t tried everything at his disposal to accomplish precisely that. Thus, rule of law will prevail.
I’m expecting public service announcements in volumes that completely saturate the media to the effect that anyone brandishing a weapon in such a way as to endanger another human being will be shot dead by one of 1.3 million law enforcement personnel, assisted, as required, by 1.1 million members of the U.S. military and all the weaponry that our $700 billion annual budget supports them with.
AS a final act of desperation, Trump may foment a rebellion, but it won’t last long, and the crime of solicitation to violence will simply be added to the list of felonies with which he’s charged.
