Protests in Michigan Could Have Erupted in Gun Violence

In my recent post: Trump–Armed Protesters in Michigan State Capitol Are ‘Very Good People,’ I predicted that this will fragment his base, rather than unite it.  I argued that there must be some voice of reason and moderation in the Republican party, one that refuses to endorse these vulgar criminals.

While I’m at it in terms of making predictions, here’s one more: the eruption of gun violence.  The state troopers who were assaulted yesterday had obviously been ordered to remain stoic and let the protesters do their thing, but were they expecting to sacrifice their health, letting these pigs (not wearing masks) get right up in their faces and shout, transferring sputum in the process?  What if one of the troopers said, “Sorry, pal, this has gone to far.  You’re under arrest for intimidation and battery.  You have the right to remain silent, …”

That could easily have resulting in a shooting incident in which dozens or perhaps hundreds we’re killed or grievously injured.

Trump’s endorsing these pigs’ behavior was not only sleazy, reckless and irresponsible, it was illegal as well, as it’s an incitement to violence.

Surely even in states where open carry is permitted, using firearms to threaten and intimidate the elected assembly has got to be illegal. I would have thought it could be considered a terrorist act, and quite possibly treason.

I can’t understand how a president can condone these actions the condoning of which could by some being support of terrorism and treason.

One step away from Crystalnacht maybe?
