Trump’s EPA Administrator Has Weakened Air Pollution Regulations, and Mom’s Clean Air Force Isn’t Havin’ It
A group called Mom’s Clean Air Force
In the midst of a global pandemic, Trump’s EPA Administrator — Andrew Wheeler — has feverishly ramped up his work to weaken regulations that protect us from air pollution. This would be terrible under any circumstance. But now, they are indecent. They defy the norms of reasonable behavior.
“They defy the norms of reasonable behavior”; that’s good. The problem is that “defying the norms” is what Trump supporters like most about the current administration. It gets things done (though most of these “things” were actually protecting our lives). Trump’s EPA has overturned 65 Obama-era regulations that ensured the cleanliness of our air and water, and another 36 more are in the pipeline. It’s going through these laws that protected our health and safety like a chain saw goes through a stalk of bamboo.
And this defying of the norms is hardly limited to environmental regulation. Until Trump took office, we had pandemic preparedness, record numbers of Americans insured, an independently operating Justice Department, a White House free of white supremacists. Now that’s all–effing–gone.
The group continues: Moms have had enough. Wheeler is making us sicker. He must go.
I’d like to see that. Very much.
