Here’s a pictorial depiction of the state of the swamp that is the United States federal government.
In each case, the person tasked with protecting a given function such that it serves the people is someone who spent his/her career ripping that function apart for private profit.
What’s good is bad, what’s bad is good, as Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan put it in “Idiot Wind”:
Now everything’s a little upside down
As a matter of fact the wheels have stopped
What’s good is bad, what’s bad is good
You’ll find out when you reach the top
You’re on the bottom
As a matter of fact the wheels have stopped
What’s good is bad, what’s bad is good
You’ll find out when you reach the top
You’re on the bottom
Maybe it will turn out like this (another verse from the same song):
You hurt the ones that I love best
And cover up the truth with lies
One day you’ll be in the ditch
Flies buzzin’ around your eyes
Blood on your saddle
And cover up the truth with lies
One day you’ll be in the ditch
Flies buzzin’ around your eyes
Blood on your saddle
