Greenpeace at British Petroleum HQ
This is illustrative of why the transition to renewable energy is such a slog: Oil companies speak with forked tongue. They lead people of conscience to believe they’re on board with renewable energy, while they’re re-assuring their investors that they’re on track to suck the last molecule of crude out of the ground.
From Greenpeace:
Three socially distanced Greenpeace activists are outside BP’s London Headquarters while inside the oil company hosts its annual shareholders’ meeting.
Earlier this year, CEO Bernard Looney announced a ‘new direction’ for the company. Mr Looney made it sound like BP was getting serious about tackling climate change. But so far it seems that it’s nothing more than PR spin and greenwash.
We’re here to remind BP that if they want a place in our future they need to stop being an oil company and go 100% renewable. Add your name.
