Reporting on the Pandemic: A Cabal?
Este análisis sobre la “pandemia”, viene de un hombre lúcido y con criterio,” or, “This analysis on the ‘pandemic’ comes from a lucid man with credentials.” The following discussion ensued:
Craig: I’m not sure I understand this. In an average year, we in the U.S. do essentially nothing about the flu, somewhere between 25K and 69K die, and it’s over by early spring. Here, we’re breaking our backs to stop COVID-19, the death toll is already at 119K, it’s mid-June, and it’s continuing to spike in 20+ of the 50 states. That sounds serious to me. Am I missing something?
Friend: Hi Craig! There is a flu vaccine every year but, statistically, it is not very effective and many people not only get the flu, but end up in the emergency room after having the vaccine. I personally have never had it and I will never subject myself to it. With the current health situation, I think part of the problem is that the numbers are being inflated (doctors and hospitals get money for each COVID-19 case/death). The “statistics” are terribly inaccurate, and I don’t think we are getting the truth about it. In the history of mankind, only the sick have been quarantined, not the healthy. These draconian measures, in my opinion, are destroying the economy and many people’s lives. I just thought I’d share this video with you because I thought it was interesting. I definitely belong to group 2 (the skeptics).
Craig: A lot of people think we’re getting lied to, about a lot of stuff. Climate change is another good example. There are people who say the scientific community is led by anti-capitalists, that are trying to destroy America. Here, however, I happen to know a whole bunch of climate scientists personally, and they’re certainly not Marxists or whatever, so I’m a “hard sell” on this. Is science lying about the virus? Seems extremely unlikely to me.
Friend: Regarding the “pandemic”, I think they are exaggerating it tremendously. If you look at the numbers, as close to that as we can get, it is not really that bad. I think there are ulterior motives behind the way things are being handled.

I’m on the fence on how to handle this from here. I don’t want to insult her by telling her that this is the position of low level Trump-supporter crackpots, and it’s fairly clear that, even if I did, I won’t be successful in getting her to question her beliefs, but I’m thinking of the following response:
I’m afraid you’re the victim of a conspiracy theory from hell. There are 11,000 scientists and medical doctors at our CDC. Then there are 1.1 million doctors in the United States, assisted by 3.8 million registered nurses, almost all of whom have some connection to the coronavirus in one form or another. On top of that, there are 32,900 full-time journalists covering this story. That’s a lot of skilled and basically honest people who would need to come together and form some sort of cabal. And that’s just in the U.S.; every country on Earth is dealing with this as well.
When you think about it, it’s far more likely that 911 was an “inside job” than that there exists a global conspiracy to lie to the entirety of Earth’s population about the pandemic. 911 could have been pulled off by a few dozen, or at most 100 conspirators.
