The End of Trump

Here we are, 120 days before the 2020 U.S. presidential election.  We see Trump faltering badly, apparently on the way to his ouster.  Yes, there are many factors contributing to his falling in the polls, but what might be the biggest one?  Allowing the Russians to encourage others to kill American troops?  Could be, but I kinda like the pandemic.

Read what New York governor Andrew Cuomo says here, and notice how 100% spot-on it is.  All Trump needs to do is say: Yes, we have a problem, and we all need to work together to solve it.  How hard would that be?

Well, it would be impossible.  The sequence that took place here is the one we’ve seen repeated dozens of times since Trump’s inauguration:

1) Trump makes an impulsive decision on a matter that he thinks will make him look good.

2) It’s soon clear to everyone, perhaps including Trump himself, that the decision was a mistake.

3) Trump doubles down on it, to the point of absurdity.

4) A new matter arises that deflects attention from the old matter, Trump makes an impulsive decision on that, and the cycle repeats endlessly.

Miraculously, this pattern seemed to be working very well until the wheels fell off in early 2020 with the pandemic, the righteous outrage at police killings of unarmed black people, and the Russian bounty of U.S. soldiers.  Now he’s toast, thank God Almighty.
