Christians Resist Evil, But That’s Never Easy
Franz Jaegerstaetter was an Austrian conscientious objector during World War II, sentenced to death and executed for his refusal to fight for Nazi Germany. He was later declared a martyr and beatified by the Catholic Church.
The reader who sent me this added a quote from Jaegerstaetter, “That we Catholics must make ourselves tools of the worst and most dangerous anti-Christian power that has ever existed is something that I cannot and never will believe.”
I can only surmise that the reason for the reader’s mentioning this is his belief that present-day Christians find a similar discomfiture in being forced to operate in a country defined by racism, lies, violence, corruption and criminality, all emanating from its president.
