Great Successes on Important Environmental Fronts
Coal-fired plants will soon be a thing of the past in the developed world, as illustrated here. The United Kingdom has all but eradicated coal from its grid-mix, due to its fierce commitment to low-carbon resources.
Of course, it is up to the wealthy countries to lead the world forward and develop the cost-effective renewable energy technologies that can be deployed in India, China and Indonesia.
Renewable energy technologies are already very cost effective in China, India and Indonesia. In recent years, it has been China rather than the West that has mostly been responsible for driving the “learning curve” and massively reducing the cost of solar, wind power and batteries.
Since we all breath the same air and stand to suffer one way or another from climate change, I hope we can all set aside political rivalries to continue and expand cooperation on the further refinement of these technologies.
