Another Second Degree Murder By Police Infuriates Americans
The black man shown here was running naked through the streets in the freezing winter of upstate New York. When his brother called 911 and asked for help, a team of policemen showed up, knocked him to the ground, handcuffed him, and put a hood over his head. One of the officers proceeded to step on his neck, using his boot to press it against the frozen pavement for two minutes, suffocating him into unconsciousness. He was eventually taken to a hospital, where he died seven days later when he was taken off life support.
This is what’s called second degree murder: the intentional killing of a person without advanced planning. In New York, that will get you 15 – 25 years in prison, but, because of the exceptional brutality of the crime, essentially murder by torture, the prosecution may seek a life sentence.
FWIW, this is what we mean when we say defund the police. Had this 911 call been directed to a social worker, there would have been no murder, and no policemen going off to prison.
It’s so sickening.
I’m so sorry that this country has disintegrated into this.
