No Free Lunch
Opponents of the Green New Deal says it’s too expensive.
Proponents ask, “Compared to what?” and then go on to offer a laundry list of costs associated with a dying planet, as well as the benefits of a strong economy based on all the jobs that will accrue as a result–jobs in renewable energy, efficiency solutions, energy storage, land management, smart-grid, electric transportation, energy and transportation infrastructure, etc.
Though the proponents are on the right of all this, one thing is as true as ever: there’s no such thing as a free lunch. That’s what this crocodile just proved, as he snatched a fish from the water that was busy enjoying his own lunch. And don’t think someone isn’t trying to make a pair of shoes out of that crocodile.
