Two-Thirds of Americans Think Government Should Do More on Climate, But Check This Out…
According to the Pew Research Center, two-thirds of all Americans believe the U.S. government should engage in environmental projects that mitigate climate change, as they feel they are already directly affected by it.
Now, consider that Trump has a 43% approval rating, which means that at least 10% of Americans both support the president and urge the government to be more aggressive on climate.
Talk about cognitive dissonance! That’s equivalent to: Sure, let’s reduce automakers’ CAFE standards, roll back more than one hundred environmental regulations, and open up the wilderness to oil drilling–but we just have to stop climate change. Yowza.
It was none other than the great Aristotle who gave us the basics of logic, including the law of noncontradiction, that is, contradictory propositions cannot both be true in the same sense at the same time.
