Climate Change Projects Have Been Remarkably Accurate
From reader Jim K.: Regarding your post Are Environmental Protectors “Alarmists?”, I would point out that one side argues that CO2 is the primary control valve for planetary temperatures. The other side argues that CO2 plays a role, but there are many other powerful forces in play, a good many of which are not well understood. Given the dismal record of climate prediction accuracy, I side with the latter group.
Jim, as you’re a man of intelligence and honor, I urge you to inform your viewpoints on scientific matters from scientific sources, not libertarian think tanks. The problem with libertarianism in this particular context is that it works to deny the existence of anything that needs to be solved by government, and thus climate change is therefore a natural enemy, because even the very best and most righteous elements of the private sector will not regulate themselves re: emissions and other environmental toxins.
As shown here, climate predictions, in fact, have been remarkably accurate.
This comes from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) which is an American international non-profit organization with the stated goals of promoting cooperation among scientists, defending scientific freedom, encouraging scientific responsibility, and supporting scientific education and science outreach for the betterment of all humanity. It is the world’s largest general scientific society, with over 120,000 members, and is the publisher of the well-known scientific journal Science (see link above).
In particular, the AAAS doesn’t have a political slant. It’s been around since 1848, a year that featured the beginning of the Gold Rush, James K. Polk in the White House, and the end of the Mexican-American War.
