Biden and the Environment
I was speaking with an old friend I hadn’t seen in….too long. She’s voting for Biden, but she’s concerned about his position on the environment.
I explained that I have to assume that Biden will be a carbon copy of Obama vis-à-vis the environment, and, from what I wrote here, I gave him (Obama) high marks.
When I heard Obama speak to an audience of environmentalists shortly before he left office, he said, “I wish I could have done more, but Congress blocked a great number of the initiatives I was hoping to implement.” He paused, and then went on, “But the story isn’t about me. It’s about people like you, and I mean everyone in this room. You folks are going to carry the mantle of environmental stewardship and compassion for humankind into the future.” I looked around me; there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
