Like the Others Before Her, Kayleigh McEnany Is Amazing

Reader A: You go, girl…somewhere else.  QAnon is probably hiring…..

Reader B: Boy, that’s a pretty huge pile of BS! This woman has proven herself incredibly competent on the highest stage in the land against some of the most vindictive scumbags ever issued White House Press Passes! I think you know that too. Your hate and jealousy are showing. She’ll certainly have a productive life ahead of her!

I grant that this is an extremely high-pressure position, and that, as such, she deserves our respect at some level.  As revolting as I find these people, Sean Spicer, Sarah Sanders, and now Kayleigh McEnany, I appreciate their abilities, if only because telling the truth is almost never an option.  Imagine that, at any moment in time, you could be asked any of literally hundreds of different bone-crushing questions, like:

• Was it a good idea for the president to refuse to condemn white supremacy?

• Why does Mr. Trump believe that COVID-19  will disappear like a miracle, when this is distinctly an anti-science position?

• Aren’t there 10 allegations of obstruction in the Mueller Report?

• Can you comment on the reports that enumerate the more than 22,000 lies the president has told during his term in office?

Think for a minute about the mental gymnastics that need to happen instantaneously in this woman’s brain:

a) Understand the question in its broadest terms and think of the correct honest answer.

b) Discard that response.

c) Create something else, knowing that is has to make the president look good, and, at the same time, has some appearance of truth, at least to the most credulous supporters and Fox News reporters.

d) Deliver that quickly, with a facial presentation that suggests that you believe it in your heart.

e) Change the subject to eliminate any chance of follow-up.

This is like playing poker, but being dealt horrible cards every single hand, and being forced to bluff the entire night without getting called.

I urge anyone to try doing that several times a week in front of cameras from every news source in the known universe.  Be sure to let me know about the status of your mental health after a few months.
