Trump in 2024?
We’ve all seen the claim that Trump is going to run for president again in 2024. Though one should never say never, here are a few questions we must ask ourselves:
• Is this his real intention, or is it a thinly veiled attempt to fleece more supporters to raise cash for his legal defenses, before indictments start to rain from the sky and this whole act is revealed for the sham it is?
• Isn’t it rational to expect that, as Trump deals with these myriad criminal charges, his legacy is going to be even worse in 2024 than it appears now? (We’re going to know an awful lot of Russian oligarchs, Putin, Deutsche Bank, etc. by then.)
• Given that Trump will either face these charges (and be serving prison time in 2024), or run from them (and be in Russia or Saudi Arabia in 2024), how, logistically, will he manage his campaign?
• Is it conceivable that four years of Biden, whose presidency will be indistinguishable from Obama’s, will be so bad that any significant number of voters will want a return to Trump’s style, with its nonstop lies, cruelty, incompetence, divisiveness, and criminality?
• How probable is it that the next four years will not present one or more major world events that make Trump even less relevant to where he is today?
When we add all this up, we see how utterly preposterous a Trump run in 2024 actually is.
