Extreme Right-Wing Views Are Surprisingly Coherent

In Western philosophy we have something called “truth theory,” of which there are essentially three:

Correspondence: For everything in the universe that is true, there is a corresponding statement to that effect.  Since Santa Barbara is in California, the statement, “Santa Barbara is in California” is true.

Pragmatic: Truth is what works.  Since Santa Barbara is in California, if I want to go to that city, I’ll need to go that state.

Coherence: A statement is true if it coheres with all the other things I believe.  Santa Barbara is in California, and that hangs together with everything else I know about it: where it appears on maps, the location of the signs welcoming me to the city, and so forth.

Now, when we look at what the hard-line right-wing folks think, we see that the coherence theory of truth is fairly decently in place.  Check out what the CEO of the ultra-right-wing social media platform Parler says, and note that, if you’re a die-hard Trump supporter, you may very well believe that.  Of course, the rest of the world believes that Facebook and Twitter banned Parler because it’s being used to plan violent acts of sedition, but my point is that they have a theory that coheres with everything else they believe: the stolen election, the path towards socialism, American exceptionalism, and in many cases, the superiority of the white race.
