The Dalai Lama Sets a Heck of a Good Example for Humankind To Follow, But…..
The Dalai Lama says: Adopting a wider perspective includes working cooperatively with others. Crises that are global by nature, such as problems related to climate change or the modern economic structure, call for coordinated and concerted efforts among many people, with a sense of responsibility and commitment – this is more encompassing than any individual or personal issue.
One way of looking at this is as follows: To the degree that the people of the world share the kindness and the enlightenment of the Dalai Lama, all this mess that human civilization has created will be gotten under control and eventually eliminated.
The problem, there, of course, is that if the people of the world shared that level of kindness and enlightenment of the Dalai Lama, human civilization wouldn’t have created all this mess in the first place.
Looked at more specifically, there is disturbingly little concerted effort focused on mitigating climate change, and there is virtually no interest whatsoever in reforming the modern economic structure.
Let’s hope that the meme doesn’t offer the only possible solution.
