Kids, Screen-Time, and Sustainability

It’s intuitively obvious that kids who spend huge amounts of time on social media become physically unfit, introverted and anti-social, and develop tendencies towards bullying.  This isn’t empirically proven, at least to the best of my knowledge, but it’s hard to imagine that long-term studies are going to reveal anything else.

All this detachment from real life has a terrible effect on the individual, but it’s possible the effect on society is even worse.  The many problems that our civilization face will be successfully resolved to the degree that its participants see themselves as part of a group with a common goal (preferably the entirety of humankind) and conversely, a lack of empathy for others works directly against the development of real solutions.

The reason I brought this up is to promote something that I just came across: MagTrax.  If my kids were still young, I’d have this stuff all over the house.
