COVID-19 Vaccinations
Here’s a conversation I had with an elderly friend that I thought I’d share.
Friend: When are you going to get vaccine booster?
Me: I’m not sure. Whenever I’m told to. Is there any other way to proceed? I mean, what’s your plan?
Friend: My daughter-in-law, who is a nurse, says I should get it in the about two weeks.
Me: Well, the way this works for most people is that the CDC, with its $11.1 billion annual budget which employs some of the world’s top scientists, is working around the clock to determine the optimum approach. They publish guidelines that the healthcare providers then implement.
Friend: But I hear they’re corrupt.
Me: Three things. One, they’re part of the federal government. They’re not a for-profit institute. Their people are on salaries paid for by tax dollars.
Two, you’ve told me in the past that you watch Fox News, which I know promotes a fabulous array of lies concerning the disease and its treatment options. Fox News’ defense when they are sued is that they are not news, they are entertainment. Their lawyers claim that no one takes what they say seriously, and the judges have uniformly agreed.
Lastly, I have a dear, life-long friend who’s a virologist and actually is part of this whole vaccine development process. I’m quite sure he has our best interests at heart.
I guess you need to ask yourself which is more likely: The 10,900 employees at the CDC are trying to kill you, or Fox News has this wrong?
