Trump Weighs In on Virginia, But To What Avail?

Is Trump wanna-be Glenn Youngkin seriously a live candidate in the Virginia gubernatorial race?  I doubt it.

Sure, like every state, Virginia has its rural regions and the yokels, most of whom support Trump, who inhabit them. But the state’s heavily populated regions are the towns and cities within a commute of Washington DC, and those that surround Virginia’s numerous colleges and universities.  These are localities where it takes work to even find a Trump supporter.

More to the point, we have the current value of a Trump endorsement, which was never strong, and often disastrous for the candidate.

Moreover, that value is falling every day.  Currently, the plunge is driven by the work of the congressional January 6th investigation, and Trump’s wild flailing to prevent testimony from anyone who may be able to speak to the ex-president’s role in planning the insurrection.

What will it be next week?  Beats me.  Anything from fraud to election tampering.  None of these allegations are in the news right now, but neither have they evaporated.

Revolting though it may be, Trump’s values are still a fit in the Deep South, but they align very poorly in Old Dominion.
