Some of Us Change Radically in the Course of Our Lives
Author/satirist Jonathan Swift left us with this: If a man would register all his opinions upon love, politics, religion, learning, etc., beginning from his youth and so go on to old age, what a bundle of inconsistencies and contradictions would appear at last!
This is true for some, and I expect it’s almost universally the case for great minds like Swift. For people like him, their lived experiences force them to realize how wrong they’ve been, often causing them to take positions that are polar opposites from where they’ve been earlier in their lives.
But when you look at the faces in the photos here, do you expect they’ve had these titanic shifts in their thinking and philosophic viewpoints? Were they once liberals, working for the well-being of everyone on the planet?
Probably not.
