We “Didn’t Like Hillary,” and Here’s Where This Has Taken Us
It’s good that Americans are starting to look back to 2016 and identifying that point in time as the one where we lost our way.
Where would be we’d be if we didn’t have so many people who “didn’t like Hillary” (for reasons most of them couldn’t name)? That’s impossible to know.
We’re we wouldn’t be, however is easy. We wouldn’t be:
• Trying to keep our democracy in place after a violent coup attempt
• Empaneling grand juries for the purpose of indicting the criminal former president
• Dealing with overt white nationalism
• Piecing back together our policies on environmental responsibility
• Arguing about non-issues like critical race theory
And we probably wouldn’t:
• Have lied about COVID-19 and possible ways to address it
• Find ourselves on the brink of joining the most oppressive government regimes in banning abortion.
According to Aljazeera, There are 16 countries where abortion is prohibited, a list that includes Egypt, Iraq, the Philippines, Laos, Senegal, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights.
I don’t think you or I would like to live in a single one of them.
