George Soros

I wrote a post recently on Bill Gates, and how the QAnon people believe that his mission is to enslave the world’s population by forcing everyone to become microchipped.

This made me think of George Soros, another QAnon boogieman, perhaps even more notorious than Gates himself.  In turn, that made me realize how little I know about him, which sent me on a short project to learn a bit.  As it turns out, his main goal actually is a vast restructuring of human civilization.

But in what direction?  This gets complicated.  Fast.

He believes in, and has donated billions of dollars towards, the politics that philosopher of science Karl Popper expressed in this 1945 book The Open Society and Its Enemies, which offers a critique of theories of teleological historicism, meaning that, as far as I can discern, that civilization falls apart inexorably, according to universal laws. In other words, we need to get back to our original, natural state as far as how we organize human society.

What that looks like, I can’t tell you.  It’s certainly democratic, rather than authoritarian, and very strong on human rights.  Precisely why that’s so scary is beyond me.
