Congresspeople Running on “God, Guns, and Babies” Are in Trouble
It’s easy to fall into despair about this latest massacre of America’s school kids. Some people say that once we did nothing after Sandy Hook, we had resigned ourselves to accept the limitless murder of our children as a fair price for the right of deranged people to own assault weapons.
I’m not so sure. The 91% of Americans who were in favor of mandatory background checks for prospective gun owners, even before the latest tragedy in Texas, are now absolutely furious at the Republicans who are cowardly blocking their attempts to protect their kids.
That’s a lot of fury, and it translates directly into a huge voting bloc, devoted to removing these bastards. Don’t be surprised to see a breakthrough.
There are congresspeople whose platform is “God, Guns, and Babies.” I’m not saying that will fail in every district, but the number of such districts in which it will fly is far less than it’s ever been.
