Trump Indicted

My deeply Republican mom and I were talking about the indictment last night, and she believes that it “will just fall apart.”

It’s unclear where she got that idea.  As I pointed out, a) this is the product of some of our country’s great legal minds grinding away over a period of years, and b) we’ll be well into 2024 before the real action, e.g., jury selection, begins; it’s not just going to disintegrate.

Fox News wants to convince its viewers that this indictment in Manhattan, and those that are likely to follow in Georgia and the federal government, have no underlying validity and are purely politically motivated by the radical left.  Out of the other side of their mouths, of course, they say that criminal prosecution is actually helpful to Trump, because it energizes his base.

There is no doubt that his hardcore, heavily armed, violence-prone supporters are even more agitated than ever.  But are there enough of these morons to get Trump anywhere near the White House?  Nowhere close.

It’s too bad for the immediate family where “Mom” has been drinking the Jim Jones / Donald Trump “cool-aid”.

Being Conservative is a way of viewing the real world from a conservative viewpoint — which has been part of this country’s body politic since the country was started.

Being a MAGA /Trump/ Fox News follower is running away from reality, because actually dealing with reality requires not giving up the ability to deal with the difference between “being a free-minded American” and being a “plain and simple traitor to this country”.

There is nothing in the present Republican Party that is recognizable from the pre-Trump / Fox News / Qanon / crowd that are hell-bent on trying to tear down this country — because they can’t handle reality.
They take on the guise of feeling “threatened” (White Supremecy), “left behind”(just plain lazy), “business only oriented” –like 99% of them would ever even end up owning a large stock balance — or any other excuse they can come up with.

so they head for the “put your head up a certain orifice” cool-aid” stand on Fox News to slug down that “cool-aid.

There is no use spending any time on trying to make contact with them even if you have them as a family member.
IF they were “sane” in the past — remember those times.
They’re, like “Mom” — lost in their own paranoid world of “make believe and it will happen” crap.
