Forgetting About the Insurrection
There is no way this country will forget about the January 6th insurrection.
For Trump to escape prosecution, he’ll have to convince the appellate courts and perhaps SCOTUS that trying to overthrow the U.S. government was an “official act,” and that won’t be a piece of cake.
More than 890 people have been found guilty of federal crimes thus far, and 541 have been sentenced to periods of incarceration. Does anyone honestly believe that the principal architect of the riot will walk free?
Maybe Jack Smith will renounce the oath he took swearing to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution. Sure.
Hi Craig — there is one thing to remember — Trump put the 3 people responsible for the Roe versus Wade decision on the Supreme Court — and the other 3 had been put there by Republican Senators – led by Mitch McConnell and the Federalist Society.
Judge Cannon in Florida is an example of the cesspool they pull their people from.
Although we laud our judicial system — it is now handled by attorneys – for attorneys – and most all judges have been attorneys.
that is the reason that Trump has been able to stall off the judgement he has been found guilty of — his attorneys – who will throw almost anything against the legal wall – to see if it will stick – as judged by a “former attorney”.
Trump is a US citizen (only)– being “former President” doesn’t mean a damned thing – unless we make it so.
But we have lifted these individuals up above everyone else – simply because they were elected to an “elected office” for a specific period of time — and Trump’s “win” is dubious at best.
So the Legal system exists as set up — but it has been populated by people that are, or have been lawyers – that take more and m ore time to write longer and longer volumes — on clear cut issues.
they are doing this – because other lawyers – or higher level judges (who were attorneys)– will “challenge” what they have written — and it goes on and on – with Trump “just” laughing at it all.
The US judicial system desperately needs to purge itself of this practice of “difference” – toward any and all persons running for an elected office.
But they won’t — because they will be challenged by an attorney – even though the person has been found guilty of a crime by his peers.
