Campaign Finance Reform
School shootings are unlike the need for climate change mitigation, universal healthcare, voter protection, and all the other slow-rolling tragedies. They are acute moments of extreme anguish, when our nation cries out to its leaders: DO SOMETHING!
Yet, in a way, all these things are strangely alike, in that progress is impossible as long as Big Money owns our lawmakers. There is exactly one reason that the United States has suffered more than 200 mass shootings thus far in 2022, and that such incidents are extremely infrequent elsewhere: corruption.
If we can remove money from politics and take the same stance on gun ownership that the rest of the planet has adopted, this problem will resolve itself almost immediately.
