What Is Normal?
No, the situation with Trump is not normal, but the meme here reminds us of what therapists implore their patients who are suffering from trauma to do: Find and accept the “new normal.”
After all, if the Republicans get their way, and the charges against Trump are dismissed as being politically motivated, it is clear our country’s history of government of, by and for the people will have been lost, and the new normal will have become autocracy.
Nobody will read this, but someone has to ask the question — “Do you wonder why so many people are going to “therapists” these days?
It’s because the population is getting younger, and they haven’t been “tried and tested” with anything other than “who ‘likes’s’or ‘dislikes’ me today”.
Since the advent of the cellphone — increasingly, the “younger generations” (with their cellphones growing out of their hand) — haven’t “found” the guts to individually look at “who they are, what they are doing, and why they are doing what they’re doing, and whtat they really want to do.
They just get led around — like so many sheep.
They have to have their “likes, dislikes, self-gratification, etc.” from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the like — which means absolutely nothing in the real world.
Being older — and having been through more than a “few rodeos”: brings “clarity” as to “who and what you really are”.
And “clarity” gives you the guts to “buckle up and fix yourself” — because no therapist isn’t going to help you do that one damned bit.
“If” you really want to find “real answers” — you have to find them yourself.
And if you find thos real answers — you then have to make the decision to either act on them or not — looking to no one but yourself.
How do I know — “been there, done that”, and I’m much better for going through it — by myself.
