What I do know is that the subject of biodegradable plastic has been the subject of scrutiny of materials scientists for many decades.
Part of the problem is the time frame in which you want the degradation process to take place. If you have a gallon of milk with a shelf-life of two weeks, you don’t need the plastic to last centuries, but if you have a case of bottled water in your garage in case of an emergency, you want the plastic to be good for at least a few years.
We are not biodegradable, nor do we adhere to the concept of biodegradability. While Timeplast may meet biodegradability standards, similar to plastics from the 80s with biodegradable additives, we contend that current biodegradability standards are misleading and do not reflect reality. Timeplast surpasses mere biodegradability; it is a water-soluble material. Our material doesn’t require bacteria, oxygen, or specific temperatures for molecular decomposition. Instead, we leverage the Earth’s natural cleansing mechanism—the water cycle—utilized for billions of years, the same reason our planet appears blue from space.
Regarding your mention of milk and water, Timeplast is built on the programmability of water resistance in a water-soluble polymer.
