Old Republicans and Loyal Trump Supporters Are Drawing the Line

I’m proud of the mother of the author of the meme here.

In fact, a few readers have asked me about my mom, a Trump supporter and Fox News acolyte, and what she’s thinking at this point.

The truth, for better or worse, is that no one except for her will ever know.  She’s 98 years old and slowing down to the point that I don’t think it’s right to grill her on what she thinks of a president whose cruel and inane policies have, if nothing else, put a huge dent into the inheritance headed for my brother and me.

If she felt like talking about this issue in our calls, which we have every other night, she could certainly state that, after a lifetime as a Republican, even after the party ceased to stand for anything remotely decent, she’s withdrawn her support.

I don’t expect to hear that, and it doesn’t bother me one iota.  Each of us lives our own lives, according to our own lights.
