Cold Fusion – Hot Subject

A website covering cold fusion posted my video on the subject http://www.e-catworld.com/2012/06/author-craig-shields-on-cold-fusion/, which has garnered 54 comments over a two-day period.  Not bad!  This really is a hot subject, pardon the pun.  Here’s one:

Craig Shields is the most articulate and rational person I have come upon in quite some time. I’m looking forward to hearing more from him.

Ha!  That put a smile on my face.   I replied:

Wow, thanks for the kind words. I try to write at least a few short posts every day at http://www.2GreenEnergy.com.

The smile lasted until I saw this one:

Cold fusion is working in the sun, sounds pretty practical to me, and has been used for millions of years to keep us hot.  Mr. Shields wants to sell books and has to be politically correct, so he doesn’t lose his credibility; it would hurt his book sales.

 I replied:

a) Cold fusion is not what goes on in the sun; that’s “hot fusion.”

b) Believe what you will, but my opinions and viewpoints are not colored by book sales. Besides, if I wanted to be politically correct, I’d jump on the “cold fusion is a hoax” bandwagon.

Moral: you can’t please everyone.

Any thing is possible, we need to be open, oh yea if we make a living doing this does that make it less real? I guess auto mechanics are all full of it…. so many make a living doing it.

Jacob: I’ve known Craig for over forty-two years and his ideas and efforts have never been motivated by the sale of books or anything else, other than his own intellectual strength, which is formidable. Although he and I disagree on many things, his academic achievments are not open to question.
I thought the idea of “cold fusion” died in the 1990s with Pons and Fleischmann.

    Jacob,

Cold fusion is about as valid a the philosopher’s stone !

However, Craig Shields is a person of great integrity, and you should apologise for your baseless accusations.

But then, maybe I’m wrong, and creatures of fantasy may exist after all, like ‘trolls’!
