Electric Vehicle Competitors to BMW's i3
From the 2GreenEnergy Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/2GreenEnergy, Robin Babicek, one of our 3238 “friends,” commented on yesterday’s post on the BMW i3 (electric vehicle):
1. It’s ugly.
2. Battery range puts it alongside other EVs such as the LEAF. While this is not bad in itself, I’d expect more from BMW, and frankly I detect a lot of resentment all over the tubes about BMW trying to tout it as a Model S rival.
3. The performance specs of the car are underwhelming.
4. It’s ugly.
Robin: Ha! I love #4, given #1 (though I disagree).
I agree that there is resentment about the way it’s being promoted. I wonder if that’s a bad thing for BMW, though; people resent a lot of advertising that appears to work very well.
And yes, it would be neater if it had better range, etc. But the price is extremely attractive. It’s certainly not a competitor to Tesla, but priced in the low 40,000s, I believe it’s going to put monstrous pressure on Nissan and the other OEMs whose products are focused on utility rather than luxury.
