Magnificent Example of Disinformation in the Renewable Energy Space

Magnificent Example of Disinformation in the Renewable Energy SpaceA reader casually notes: “(The German) Energiewende (energy change-in-direction) is proving to be an economic disaster.”

This is false.  It could be just a careless blunder, but it’s probably not; most often, when we hear this, it’s part of an extremely broad campaign to discredit the clean energy industry with “facts” that are invented on the spot by one of the numerous detractors of renewable energy.  I ask readers to check out the truth in this space.  From the article:

“Germany’s renewables revolution is in fact highly successful and strong as ever, but that hasn’t stopped three myths from gaining traction in the media: 1) Germany’s supposed turn back to coal, 2) how renewables undermine grid reliability, and 3) how renewables subsidies are cratering the German economy. None of those are (sic) true, and here’s why.”

Moreover, I have friends in Germany–real people who pay real electric bills, and they most assuredly do not perceive what’s happening there as an “economic disaster.” The Germans aren’t idiots, and they’re not left-over hippies; they’re generally extremely bright and industrious people (the world’s fourth largest economy–one whose merchandise exports rival those of the US, even though our population is four times larger).

It never ceases to amaze me how much work it takes to keep the liars from winning here.
