Scientists Take Issue with Donald Trump’s Position on Climate Change

Scientists Take Issue with Donald Trump’s Position on Climate ChangeApparently, the scientists of the world are a bit cheesed off with the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency, insofar as, among other catastrophes, it means the end of U.S. conviction to mitigate climate change.  Evidently, they think it’s not such a swell idea for the most powerful nation on the planet to tell the rest of the world, “We simply don’t care about the impending disaster.”182610-004-41E5B96B

A couple of mini-facts:

• The letter described above was signed by arguably the most senior physicist on the planet, Steven Hawking, as well as 30 Nobel laureates.

• Of all the world’s top scientists who were asked to sign the letter, a few refused, on the basis that the institution for which they worked would not allow it, or because they took exception to a word here or there.  Not a single one refused on the basis of a disagreement with the basic science, i.e., that human activity is leading to climate change that will cause incredible damage to our civilization over the coming decades.

• As described here, these people are saying that electing Trump could doom the world.

It’s surreal that we citizens of Earth find ourselves in this position.

And speaking of surreal, I no sooner had written this post before I came across this gem from syndicated cartoonist “Tom Tomorrow” that speaks to this very issue, i.e., tearing the fabric of reality.  I can’t think of a person on the planet I admire more than this guy.  aga

Here’s a link to the actual letter – 8 paragraphs totaling 31 sentences – it’s well worth the tiny effort in reading:
