What Trump Supporters Really Need Is the Exact Opposite of What He Would Deliver
A few people have commented that my anti-Trump posts could alienate his followers, and actually galvanize support for the sociopath.
No one with any sense and decency deliberately wants to alienate Trump supporters, or anyone else for that matter. But let’s look at this carefully. These people are divided into two groups:
• A smaller number of wealthy people who love the promise of a huge tax reduction and elimination of governmental regulation on things like the environment, and
• A much larger number who are feeling the pinch financially, brought on as a result of our economy’s failing to offer the same standard of living it did 15 years ago. These people are sufficiently angry and/or ignorant to believe that their personal interests are served by building walls, lowering taxes on the wealthy, cutting social services, taking 20 million people off of the health insurance rolls, making wars more probable and horrific, and making the U.S. the laughing stock of the planet.
The only thing that’s going to help this latter set of people, ironically, is the exact antithesis of what they think they want. A better standard of living can only come from reducing the financial chasm between them and the ueber-rich, and by creating better public education.
I would also point out that both sets of Trump supporters need one other thing if they are to lead happy lives. They need to lose the racism and xenophobia that their leader has brought to a full boil. Hatred and happy living do not go walking together hand in hand.
Craig,
In your outrage you employ the same rhetoric and irrational claims that you condemn in Donald Trump and his supporters.
1) Advocating effective enforcement of immigration laws, is not “racist” .
2) ” huge tax reduction and elimination of governmental regulation is a legitimate political policy, in exactly the same way as an increase in tax and governmental regulation is a legitimate political policy.
3) there is no evidence that Donald Trump is a “sociopath”, this is just a term of abuse completely unsupported, and refuted by those closest to Donald Trump.
Donald Trump may advocate policies you don’t like or subscribe to your particular partisan political beliefs, but in a representative democracy, he and his supporters should be afforded the courtesy of being allowed to contest their views and opinions without the sort of abuse being leveled in your comments.
What saddens me about the more extreme opponents of Donald Trump, is, even though I’m not a Trump supporter, I feel obliged to defend him in the interests of fair play.
Most fair minded moderates feel the same way. That’s the problem with advocacy employing extreme rhetoric, it forces reasonable people to defend the target of the abuse, despite not being in favour of the views expressed by of the victim.
@ Marco
in the pursuit of feeble attempt s of fairness your defense of Trump detracts from your Intellect Mate !
Facts matter as do Records and in his case his track record speaks volumes for socio path , mean spirited , crook, tax dodger, and you a person who served honorably in 3 Wars and this flake was MIA in vietnam ( another matter of FACT , but yes we are in a age of facts dont matter I forgot !! LOL LOL
does our Mate suffer like too many in America from a dose of Amnesisa ??
Just asking ??
Craig framed it well the irony is that the dumb angry people following him really need the policies that Democrats offer. That is the reality.
The smaller uber rich – they make out real well and keep making money on money without producing any thing of tangible value , they are shielded from reality as long as the poor are forced to join the service ( for a paycheck) and fight useless wars for corporate profits and do all the suffering. America’s uber rich have a great gig going. They can own everything and keep most people down but sooner or later the demand for products goes down cause folks dont got any money. And demand goes down and growth stays flat. So their passive investments dont grow as much HUMN?
The uber rich cant avoid that economic law. Trumps wealth is a pyramid of debt and IOU’s and tax rebates and it all can come crashing down.
Craig Keep Framing it well and Marco Polo let go of the Amnesia , trump has no class and is just a narcissistic predator that took advantage of weak gop field and the pent up anger in America which is real for real reasons as we both have agreed.
But the guns / anger are pointed at the wrong targets. Its trumps uber rich crowd that needs to be the targets!
And the Corporate media plays the background music to keep the Chardes game going Talk about CONs ! and the Moronic Minions remain confused and in Denial! The way it is.
Trump no need any fairness
