Extreme Weather Events You Never Thought You’d See
As the Earth continues to warm and the permafrost melts in Northern Russia, a great number of things are happening: some invisible, like the releasing of enormous amounts of the highly potent greenhouse methane that has been sequestered for thousands of years. On the other hand, some are astonishingly visible, like the “land tsunamis,” in which the pressure caused by the melting phenomena create huge waves of earth. You have to see this to believe it, so I hope you’ll check out the video in the article linked above, showing an event in which about 800,000 cubic meters of land rumbles through a forest and across a road, a still from which is pictured above.
Good place to avoid taking a Sunday drive.
Of course, better than avoiding these areas is helping to prevent global catastrophe in the first place.
