Can Trump Turn This Around?

There’s a meme going around Facebook that suggests that Trump’s record-setting low approval rating could be ameliorated if he’d stop acting like a crazy person.  This is 100% true.

Think for a second: What would you or I do in his position? We’d:

• Stop tweeting idiotic insults and other hostile inanities in the middle of the night.

• Conform with the ethics requirements that any of our assets that could conceivably create conflicts of interest need to be in a blind trust.

• Urge Congress to fix the things that are (so obviously) broken or otherwise non-optimum with Obamacare.

• Back off on tax cuts for the super-wealthy and the assault on public services for the poor and working class.

• Accept the basic science of climate change, reinstating the US as a credible party on the world stage.

• Stop vilifying the media and the judiciary.

• Knock off the unfair and untrue generalizations about Muslims, Mexicans, etc.  Give up on the border wall.

• Stay away from the vacation spots and off the golf courses we might own, and invest time into learning about the world.

• Try to start telling the truth.

Would this work?  Given the growing ferocity of the investigations into collusion, conflicts of interest, etc., it’s not certain.  But it sure couldn’t hurt.  What’s the matter with acting in a way that shows that you understand and care about the welfare of the country and its people?  Why not take the steps that will almost immediately cut your huge disapproval rating in half?
