Scotland Set Yet Another Record for Renewable Energy
Even if the water temperatures were enticing, which they’re not, you still wouldn’t want to swim in the channel north of Scotland that separates the Atlantic from the North Sea (pictured). The tides are fearsome, characteristic of all ocean shorelines on Earth at extreme latitudes.
That’s what enabled our friends in the land of kilts, bagpipes, haggis, and single malt whiskey to set a record in August, generating 700 megawatt-hours of electricity from tidal generators. Great going.
Renewable energy is a hot issue all over the world. Because it is harmless to the environment.
Ivy,
I hate to break this to you, but most forms of Renewable Energy have some environmental downsides.
Many of the downsides can be more harmful than the traditional duels they are intended to replace.
Listening to Craig and other RE enthusiasts may create the impression that Renewable Energy is a sort of ‘moral’, crusade, full of goodies and baddies, in truth, it’s really just about evolving technology. Ultimately, it’s you the consumer who decides.
Like most consumers you will decide on the technology’s convenience and value for money first and ideology second.
That’s not wrong, it’s just commonsense, the rest is just arrogant nonsense by ideological advocates seeking to impose their own philosophies and lifestyles on others.
