Advocates of Environment Stewardship Face Tenacious Opponents with Powerful Jaws and Sharp Teeth
I don’t want to sound self-absorbed, but I couldn’t help thinking of myself when I came across the video below. It reminds me of the work I do all day long, advancing the causes of my clients’ cleantech business interests, while blogging about environment stewardship, social responsibility and the many different flavors of renewable energy that may come to save us from eco-catastrophe. Yet, for some reason, I have detractors, in this case, a small, canine version of MarcoPolo.
Craig,
Heh, heh, … but you misjudge me, all I want is for you to stop yapping futilely like the small canine and focus on become more effective in your advocacy by becoming more objective and positive.
There are two ways to achieve environment stewardship.
1) Demanding society recklessly bans all technology with negative environmental aspects, even if that means a economic collapse.
or
2) Use the creative power of innovative technology to mitigate negative environmental aspects, while retaining the positive economic benefits.
Infusing leftist political ideology with environmental objectives is unwise, since sooner or later, the general public will fail do disassociate and differentiate between policies and simply reject everything.
So I keep striving to keep you from the “dark side” and join your voice with those moderate environmentalists who can achieve real, effective progress despite the political climate.
Our civilization is on the brink of environmental collapse. Everyone who understands that and actually cares is raising an alarm. It’s pretty much that simple.
Craig,
“Our civilization is on the brink of environmental collapse”
Hmmm,..there are always alarmists crying our civilization is on the brink of collapse for one reason or another !
The answer is to harness human ingenuity, creativity and innovation, not sackcloth and ashes and penury. We must continue to maintain strong, vibrant economic conditions which will allow the growth of clean technology.
I was exceedingly disappointed by the reaction of Greenpeace and the Australian Green Party demand for research and development of plastic rubbish eating microbes to cease, on the grounds that it would make stopping plastic production more difficult.
Forcing people to adhere to some philosophic/ideological agenda against their will, will only produce dissidence and resistance.
I’m reminded of a spoiled child throwing a tantrum when told he may not have dessert before dinner, that he must brush his teeth, and that he must turn off the light when he leaves a room.
Children always rebel against wisdom, but that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to simply have their way.
