Why We Should Care About the Demise of the American Middle Class
Here’s a quick video on wealth equality, featuring the world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, and one of his full-time employees who lives in her car, which she keeps in an Amazon parking lot, to provide the convenience of walking to work in the morning.
There are two main reasons that our society should take measures to address wealth/income inequality:
• It’s morally outrageous
• It inhibits participation in democracy, accelerating our path to oligarchy
Needless to say, tax breaks for billionaires, like so many other features of American life today, are taking us in precisely the wrong direction.
Craig,
Er, I’m not sure if you’re aware, Jeff Bezos is one of the largest democrat backers and donor, intimate of the Bill and Hillary Clinton and a sworn enemy of President Donald Trump ?
As part of his commitment to promote liberal causes, and g;obalization, Bezos bought the jewel in the crown of leftist media, the venerable “Washington Post”. (but mostly to continue the campaign to bring down the President).
Strong evidence exists Bezos funded the purchase for the Democrats of notorious Russian inspired “Steele disinformation Dossier”.
As for your horror at the treatment lowly employees, you to have confused two separate stories the first is an ex-employee sleeping in her car after being rejected workers compensation for a fraudulent claim (she also has a history of substance abuse and such claims) and a young highly paid ($190k pa) soft-ware engineer, who decided to save $ 3000 a month and a long commute, by living in a truck converted to mobile home.
Amazon employs 570,000 people world wide. I’m sure in any large organization of that size you will find a percentage of malcontents. Perhaps,(although it might not help you maintain your outraged sensibilities), you should read the stories and testimony from the many thousands of happy, and grateful Jeff Bezos employees who vehemently disagree with your opinion of their hero.
