World’s First 3-D Printed Auto – a Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Here’s the new Urbee Hybrid, a car described as the world’s first 3-D printed auto, developed by Minneapolis’ Stratasys and Winnipeg engineering group, Kor Ecologic.  Apparently, the company will not divulge too much information about its drivetrain, other than that it’s a hybrid and gets about 150 MPG.

Now I don’t want to sound like I’m impossible to impress (because I really think this is cool) but couldn’t they have made this a pure EV?  Doesn’t the idea of putting gasoline into something that looks like this seem wrong?

I’m searching for a good analogy:

It’s like using a Maserati to deliver pizzas?

It’s like going to Paris and eating at McDonalds?

There really are McDonalds all over Paris, btw; this one is on the Champs Elysees.  No wonder those people resent us.
