Up Against the Wall

Patton had never seen stupid like it exists in 2019’s America.FT_18.11.28_FactsIllegalImmigration_USunauthorizedimmigranttotal_newHaving said that, on Trump’s part, the wall does not derive from stupidity; I’m sure he understands that the wall can be climbed over, flown over, tunneled under, boated around, and God knows what else.  He knows that the rest of the world considers this a tragic joke, and that his handling of asylum seekers is both completely illegal and shamefully inhumane.

The wall is a testimony to his ego, his desperation to accomplish something that plays to his base, and his monumental talent for convincing working-class white Americans of unvarnished bullcrap.  Of course, he is aided and abetted by a certain “news” channel that distorts the truth so wildly that its viewers’ heads are full of ideas that have no footing in reality.

In particular:

• Illegal immigration into the U.S. continues to fall from its peak in 2007.

• Newly arriving illegals commit fewer crimes per capita than native-born Americans.FT_13.10.07_Prevalence-of-Crime

• Hard to believe as it may be, Muslim terrorists are not flying to Guatemala, learning fluent Spanish, then trudging across a thousand miles of desert, sick and starving, only to deal with ICE when they arrive.

If you want to see a monument to stupidity, you don’t have to look far.

    Craig,

Strong border controls can work, and do work !

The only question is the political will to effectively police the borders and the certainty that even if the illegal migrant is successful, they will be apprehended and deported or held in permanent detention.

Strict migration control and border security is very difficult. It needs long term political resolve and determination. Sadly, it also requires the acceptance of a certain degree of melancholic cruelty. Like strict quarantine laws, there can be no exception if the certainty of deterrence is to prove effective.

If this seems harsh, well it is, and must be accepted as the price to be paid for putting and end to illegal migration.

Unfortunately, illegal migration isn’t something that can be “managed” or dealt with in a compassionate manner. Like quarantine, the policies must be strictly observed or not at all.

No nation has dealt with illegal migration as effectively as Australia. Australia is fortunate in being an island, but the policy has been extremely difficult and required astonishing resolve to maintain in the face of international and domestic political domestic pressure.

I afraid wishy-washy methods don’t work ! President Trump’s “Wall” may not be 100% effective, but it will prove an effective barrier to mass migration. Democrats like yourself, have no practical plan of how to deal with illegal migration, and lack the political resolve to enforce any effective solution.

Illegal migration is just that, “illegal” ! Either enforce law, or abolish the law, but inadequately enforcing any law is not only hypocritical, but destroys respect for all laws, increasing corruption and destroying the moral of those officials charged with the duty of law enforcement.

The rest of the world does not think President Trump’s border security measures are a “tragic joke”, nor does any other nation, outside of a few leftists, think his handling of illegal migrants “illegal or shamefully inhumane”.

The whole nonsense about calling “illegal migrants” “asylum seekers” is dishonest ! These people are not refugees, simply illegal migrants who wish to jump the queue illegally thereby depriving other, more deserving, legal migrants of the opportunity to obey the rules.
