Study Shows Phasing Out Fossil Fuels Could Arrest Climate Change

Muslim-Pearl-in-a-Western-Shell-BrotherhoodHere’s a report that gives us reason for hope in our battle to keep the Earth’s temperature from rising more than 1.5 degrees C.

The challenge: Our civilization is as far from making a concerted effort to make this happen as we are to putting an end to war or deciding that it’s wrong for 26 people to have the same collective wealth as the bottom 3.8 billion, or giving up our notions that our own race or religion is superior to all others.

They all sound like terrific ideas, but making any of them happen requires a great awakening in us, and the recognition of our fellow travelers on Earth and our brothers and sisters.

I’d love to say that this could happen, but we’re actually regressing, as demagogues all over the globe are finding how easy it is to grab power by stirring up the worst emotions in humankind.

On top of that, there is the power of money.  Remarkably, there are billionaires out there who know full well that their activities are rapidly making this planet a hellish place on which to live—and simply couldn’t care less.

Sorry for the cynical post; hope I’m wrong.

    Craig,

Why do you always confuse and link environmental issues with propaganda for leftist political-ideological agenda ?

By insisting both are linked by some “moral” bond, you automatically exclude at least 70% of the population who may be sympathetic to environmental conservation, but resist becoming entangled in leftist political dogma, moral lectures etc.

By combining environmental advocacy with confusing diatribes about morality and socialist ideology and economics, you engender three responses.

    1) The majority can’t be bothered and simply stop listening to the environmental message, repelled by the dishonesty of intertwined leftist political doctrines disguised as concern for the environment.

    2) Some will ask questions about your conclusions and finding holes in your advocacy and upon discovery of your inability(or unwillingness to debate) issues when challenged, will simply ignore or dismiss even the valid parts of your message.

    3) A very small group of fellow travelers will applaud you message, but they were always convinced, so you are just preaching to the already converted.

For years I’ve been trying to explain, the vast majority of people (once they leave college)lose interest in left wing ideology as they acquire the responsibilities of making a living, raising a family etc.

You ask why the majority of people across the globe, despite ha hugely sympathetic media, have lost interest in environmental issues. The answer is simple, people have lost interest due to leftist ideologues hi-jacking environmental issues to disguise the furtherance of radical left agendas.

    Craig,

China’s December coal output climbed 2.1 percent from the year before, government data showed, hitting the highest level in over three years as major miners ramped up production amid robust winter demand and after the country started up new mines.

Official documents reveal China approved more than 45 billion yuan’s ($6.64 billion)worth of new coal mining projects in 2018. much more than 2017.

Emission are not expected to rise as the introduction of new Super High Efficiency Coal plants due to come on line in 2019-20 will easily offset any increase in coal fired generation.

If all US coal plants were equipped with the latest technology, US emissions would drop also dramatically.
