Failure to Fight Climate Change: A Crime Against Humanity?

UntitledA crime against humanity?  Climate change denialism is part of Trump’s very brand.  It’s an expression of who and what he is; it’s actually an important aspect of maintaining what remains of his political strength.

The Trump brand is an ultra-consistent set of positions that have fabulous appeal to a small group of the amoral rich, and a very large group of hateful, ignorant people who adore their leader’s:

• Overt racism

• Rejection of science

• Exploitation of the environment for profit

• Cruelty to the poor, Muslims, and LBGTQs

• Dismantling any aspect of the federal government that provides actual service to people who need it

• Support of the world’s tyrants

• Bullying those who criticize him or, especially, investigate his alleged criminal activity

• Threatening wars all over the globe

• Creating asinine economic positions like skyrocketing national debt and self-destructive trade wars

• Abuse of women

One could say that he is a “walking crime against humanity,” but to single out his failure to fight climate change is a strange position to take, IMO.

    Craig,

Your comments on the President have reached a level of of self-parody. Your latest list of accusations against the President would serve as an excellent example for the sort of hate-filled, abusive tirade you claim to detest.

None of your clichéd assertions stands even the most casual test of accuracy.

1)” Abuse of women” ; None of the accusations against the President have been proven. Several have been proven false and the accusers prosecuted or the President has been awarded heavy costs. The President is surrounded by woman supporters, including female members of his own family.

2)”Creating asinine economic positions like skyrocketing national debt and self-destructive trade wars”: I know you hate the current US prosperity, but the US economy is defying all expectations and is enjoying an economic boom! The President didn’t start the current Trade wars, America has been in a trade war for 30 years and losing! He’s just the first President to fight back !(and he’s staring to win).

    3) “Threatening wars all over the globe”: Actually, this President has been very restrained in comparison to his predecessors. His policies of containment without actual military force are surprisingly effective.

4)”Bullying those who criticize him or, especially, investigate his alleged criminal activity”: Defending himself against false accusations, a tirade of rabid abuse and possible corrupt conspiracies against him and his administration, isn’t “bullying”, it’s self-defence.

    5) “support of the worlds tyrants”: Any President is obliged to deal with difficult leaders of other nations. This President believes in containment of nuclear armed(or aspiring nuclear armed) despots with a combination of carrot and stick diplomacy. So far he’s succeeded where everyone else has failed. Yelling abuse at Putin, won’t change his mind, but sanctions and bolstering the energy requirement of his neighbors while offering a more moderate path, just might work.

    6) “Dismantling any aspect of the federal government that provides actual service to people who need it”: So far the President’s efforts to reign in an overblown bureaucracy have been very effective. Every administration has promised to achieve reform and failed, only this President is achieving his goal of reducing the Washington “swamp”.

7)”Cruelty to the poor, Muslims, and LBGTQs”: On the contrary, President Trump has dramatically lessened the number of poor in the US by increasing employment. As for Muslims, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t accuse the President of hating all Muslims, while also castigating him for having Muslim friends and allies!

8)”Overt racism”: This is another completely false accusation: It’s true, the President attacks his political enemies regardless of race or creed equally. Those who find themselves on the receiving end often play the race card. The President’s support among minorities has been rising as they realize he speaks the truth when he calls out corruption among their own leaders, and those who denigrate America.

    9) “Rejection of science”: The President doesn’t reject “science”, just those who use “science” as a means of political advocacy for very unscientific agenda.

10)” Exploitation of the environment for profi”t: I’m not sure what that even means! Humans have always “exploited” the environment. Vague emotive terms like this are just meaningless bombast.

Describing President Trump and his millions of supporters as “amoral rich” and ” hateful, ignorant people’, is not evidence of anything except the depth of your own partisan hatred of anyone who disagrees with your own particular viewpoint.

In 2016, a large part of the American media and ‘liberal left” became hysterical when President Trump was elected. None of their wild accusations eventuated. Even the Mueller inquiry end with a sad little whimper, but revealed disturbing information about Obama/Clinton corruption.

Read back your comments of only two years ago, see how crazy and hysterical they now sound. None of your dire predictions came true. All that hysteria produced nothing,.

In the word of Shakespeare : “That struts and frets an hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury
    Signifying nothing”.

That pretty well sums up the President’s more rabid critics !

    You need to move on.
