The Future Is China

UntitledLet’s suppose that next 50 years produces no unpredictable Earth-shattering events. Let’s speculate that the world of 2070, given what we see today re: environmental decay/climate change, the trend towards fascism, the threat of nuclear war, and all the rest doesn’t render our world a fundamentally different place than what we’re experiencing today.  What will life be like?

Well, one thing young people today can expect to see long before they’re old is that the so-called “American empire” will be long gone. It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which the Chinese do not soon render the U.S. far less irrelevant in the global business world than it is today.

The main basis on which I make this prediction is China’s stability and commitment to long-term success.  They’ve been at this for thousands of years; they don’t care if world dominance comes in the next fiscal quarter, or even in the next decade.  ‘They don’t stop educating their people.  They don’t promote the criminally insane to lead their country, supported by a congress full of sniveling cowards.  Thy don’t loot their treasury and hand the cash to the top 0.1%.  They invest in their future, and they keep plugging.

I sure wouldn’t want to live there, but it’s hard not to admire their tenacity and perseverance.  Wish I had better news.

    Craig,

Well, there are two ways to deal with a large, unruly Dragon!

    A) Abjectly grovel in a display of self-loathing and masochistic cowardice.

    B) Recognize the challenge and start teaching the Dragon to be respectful, courteous and play be the rules among the family of nations. This means training the Dragon to understand that with power comes responsibility.

It may mean a lot of effort and some risk. Boxing a big Dragon’s ears ain’t easy, but it must be done before the Dragon grows to big.

President Trump may seem an unlikely St George, but he is at least out there competing. Trump may be brash and even crude, but at least he isn’t an appeaser or indulge in self-loathing. Nor does he apologize for being American. As President he is unequivocally nationalistic. From the first day, he nailed his colors to the mast and set sail as the ‘American President’.

He annoys effete leftist ‘intellectuals, because, unlike you, he doesn’t believe the era of American greatness is over, and Americans should all grovel before the Chinese Communist flag, while indulging in an orgy of self-flagellation for past sins, both real and imagined.

Not ol’ Don, he’s out there mixing it with Dragon and to the Dragon’s surprise, he’s scoring points! The Dragon is learning the lesson that not all American’s are easily corrupted or bought.

Not all American’s are weak and willing to pay “Danegeld” tribute. Currently, the Dragon is licking it’s wounds and seeking willing collaborators inside America to bring down this difficult enemy, whom they badly underestimated, and continue its program of subjugation.

China also has a rising power closer to home to keep at bay, India.

The US has powerful and loyal allies. However, some of those allies must be reminded that US friendship and partnership is a two-way street. Those nations who think they can hunt with the hounds and run with the hare, will discover they can do neither while Donald J Trump is President.
