Assessing Trump Objectively
Occasionally I get comments to the effect that I’m living in a dream world, Donald Trump is admired by most Americans, and that his presidency is sailing along nicely, with perhaps the exception of a small lunatic fringe and a few members of the Deep State who, for some reason, are committed to removing a duly-elected, honest and rational man from office.
I can’t imagine such comments having any impact on anyone (else) reading this blog; these people aren’t wholly ignorant of what’s happening in the world.
Barry McCaffrey served in the United States Army for 32 years and retired as a four-star General. At retirement, he was the most highly decorated serving General, having been awarded three Purple Heart medals (wounded in combat three times), two Distinguished Service Crosses (the nation’s second highest award for valor) and two Silver Stars for valor. Does anyone think he’s a socialist? That he lives in a dream world of his own?
With each passing day, it becomes ever clearer that Trump will not serve out his term. What remains completely unclear, however, is the nature of the drama that will unfold between now and the moment he is removed. His behavior has been reckless and unhinged from the start, and now he’s responding to the pressure and horrific poll numbers with even more erratic and violent words and actions.
This is going to be jaw-dropping. We really are in great danger.
