Character Matters
Beam Furr, one of my best friends in college, is now Commissioner of Broward County, Florida. At left is something he published recently.
Unassailable logic, written in a firm but even-tempered tone. Good going, Beam. Wish we could relive those halcyon days at DKE. (Larger version below.)
Craig,
Your friend seems to be a pretty nice guy and working hard to improve the lives of folks living in Broward County FL.
However your buddy is typical of many Americans who suffer from the delusion that the rest of the world admires and accepts “American leadership”!
This just isn’t true, and certainly hasn’t been true for the last 60 years!
It’s true the US has some firm allies among those nations with strong links to the US and similar values, but although important, these nations number only a handful.
The rest of the world has always detested or distrusted the USA.
When convenient, no country has more quickly broken treaties, agreements, abandoned allies and betrayed friends faster and more consistently than the USA.
The only difference with President Trump is he’s honest and candid about his reasons. he doesn’t indulge in the usual cant and hypocritical self-justification.
But if yourself or your buddy with to disprove what I claim as being inaccurate, let’s both make a list of kept and broken promises, shall we?
No? I didn’t think you would accept such a challenge!
