In All Fairness To Trump Supporters
The content of the meme here isn’t true.
First of all, where does “30%” come from? Now, it could derive from the fact that 62% of Trump supporters, which now total in the low 40s, say they would support Trump no matter what he does, i.e., regardless of any facts that are turned up in this or future investigations.
In any case, Trump supporters are divided among those who:
Believe that he’s telling the truth, and the entire rest of the world (outside of Fox News) is lying.
Are not at all happy that Trump is a liar, but are so enamored of his policies (white supremacy, cruelty, punishing liberals, tax cuts for billionaires, destroying the environment for profit, etc.) that his dishonesty is a price they’re willing to pay.
Craig,
My goodness, but you sound like your going to burst with indignation and bile!
But then you are a little careless with the truth yourself, aren’t you, eh? Maybe prone to a few exaggerations, disingenuous facts and the odd invention here and there?
That’s always the problem when you abandon the unpleasant reality of objectivity and replace it with passionate fantasy. After a bit, you have invented your own reality and it must be hard for your to accept the truth anymore.
I often feel what the left hate most about Trump is how disarming he can be when in a humorous mood. Trump often displayed to his base a funny, self-depreciating side, laughing at himself and his faults.
To his base this makes him seems human and subject to the same human frailties as thenselves. The President keeps his base on board, laughing along with him, even when the joke he made is at his own expense.
The main mistake he never makes is belittle ordinary Americans or make fun at their expense. That’s why he won his base support which he stole from the Democrats.
Instead of recognizing how they alienated blue collar ordinary Americans, the professional leftists an democrat elite (like yourself) further alienate their former supporters by denigrating and upbraiding them.
Cursing blue collar worker as “deplorables” “morons” “white supremacists” etc., while preaching endless sermons at their wickedness, has allowed President Trump the opportunity to give his supporters a way to feel superior to the elites, to mock what they see as a humorless and predictable political establishment.
An example of this is the paroxysms of rage and indignation from leftist media and humorless commentators condemning Trump’s joke when presenting decorations to American veterans.
At a veterans’ event in Louisville last August, Trump joked about wanting to give himself the Medal of Honor: “I wanted one, but they told me I don’t qualify,” he said of his aides. “I said, ‘Can I give it to myself anyway?’ They said, ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
Both he and the veterans laughed, but not so his foes! Media talking heads on CNN freaked out, demanding he apologize.
Trump drives his foes crazy by mocking his political enemies’ hatred of him conveys more than a sense of humor. It also underlines the fact that Trump became President by facing down deep hostility, and now feels in a strong enough position he can afford to joke about it.
Liberals can’t stop ranting about the “Trump derangement syndrome.”
They don’t get his humour, as a result he makes them seem like humorless puritans and hypocrites.
Liberals see Trump as dangerous, which makes them take his face value. as if he were being serious. Hi opponents also see him as low-status,undeserving of the Presidency and that also describes his supporters.
That contempt by the political elite is ammunition for Trump. When you are booing him, you are also booing the Presidency and all his supporters.
And you wonder why they stay loyal?
This self-depreciating humour also allows him to point out the hypocrisy of liberal puritans and destroy politicians like Joe Biden.
